As winter settles in across the valley, the cooler conditions have continued to provide excellent golfing weather, with the course holding up beautifully despite the busy competition schedule. The past fortnight has seen plenty happening around Macksville Country Club, with members enjoying a mix of championship golf, medal events and keenly contested midweek competitions. Congratulations to all of our winners, particularly P. Donges, who claimed the Monthly Medal, A. Clarke, who took home the Spoon, and A. Ross, who continued his good form with a midweek victory. It’s also been pleasing to see familiar names featuring on the leaderboards alongside several members enjoying well-earned success throughout the month.

Our championship season has also been in full swing, with the Mixed Foursomes Championship and Foursomes Championship producing some outstanding golf. Congratulations to all of our Gross and Net winners and everyone who took part in what were highly competitive events. A sincere thank you goes to Kinnear & Cartwright, Nambucca River Co-op, and Brad & Cheryl Fortescue for their generous sponsorship, along with all of our volunteers who continue to help prepare the course, run competitions and make each event possible. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated and plays a significant role in the continued success of golf at Macksville Country Club.

Membership Reminder

A reminder to all members: Golf Australia/Golf NSW affiliations will be removed from any memberships that remain unpaid. Once your affiliation is removed, you will be ineligible to play in official competitions, and your handicap record will become inactive until your membership has been renewed.

If you have not yet renewed your membership for the current season, please contact the Club and finalise your renewal as soon as possible to avoid any interruption to your golf.

Thank you to everyone who has already renewed their membership and continues to support golf at Macksville Country Club.

Volunteers Needed

The Golf Committee is seeking assistance from members who can volunteer a small amount of their time to help around the course and support the ongoing presentation of our facilities.

There are a number of tasks where additional help would make a significant difference, including ball collection on the driving range, rough maintenance, course clean-up, gardening, minor repairs, and general course presentation. No special skills are required, and members can contribute as much or as little time as they are able.

As with many community sporting clubs, much of what we enjoy today has been built by volunteers. Whether it’s an hour occasionally or more regular involvement, every contribution helps reduce the workload on staff and ensures the course continues to be presented to a high standard for members and visitors alike.

If you would like to lend a hand or simply learn more about how you can assist, please speak with a member of the Golf Committee or contact the Club. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Below is a Summary of people who have put their hand up, and also shows where we need more help. Thankyou to everyone already helping out.

Completing a Scorecard

As a reminder to all players, scorecards submitted after competitions must be completed clearly and correctly. Recently, a number of cards handed in have been difficult to read or missing important details, such as player names, totals, dates, markers’ signatures, and other required information. This creates unnecessary delays and difficulties when finalising competition results at the end of the day.

While golf has always been built on honesty and integrity, it also relies on players taking responsibility for correctly completing and checking their scorecards before submission. Under the Rules of Golf set out by the R&A, players are responsible for ensuring their card is accurate and properly completed. In previous years, incomplete or incorrect cards often led to disqualification. While we aim to keep competitions enjoyable and relaxed, maintaining basic standards is important for the smooth running and fairness of the competitions.

The Golf Committee asks all players to please take an extra moment before submitting their cards to ensure they are legible, signed, correctly totalled, and contain all required details. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and helps volunteers and committee members process results.
