Program Details

Welcome to the Junior Golf Program at Macksville Country Club! Our program is designed to introduce young golfers to the game, improve their skills, and foster a love for golf. We offer two categories:

    • Cadets (ages 5 to 12):
    • Range sessions on Monday afternoons from 4pm.
    • Location: Macksville Country Club Driving Range.
    • Progression from range sessions to a 3-hole, 6-hole, and 9-hole competition. (Dependent on Players Abilities)
    • Once cadets shoot under 45 for 9 holes, they can start playing for their 18-hole handicap.
    • Juniors (ages 13 to 18):
    • Range sessions on Monday afternoons from 4pm.
    • Location: Macksville Country Club Driving Range.
    • Structured progression to enhance skills and prepare for competitive play.
    • Progression from range sessions to a 9-hole competition.
    • Once cadets shoot under 45 for 9 holes, they can start playing for their 18-hole handicap.

Cadet/Junior Competition

    • Stroke and Net Competition 9-hole competition.
    • Preferred Lies: Club length preferred lie throughout the green.
    • Tee Markers: Play from ladies’ tee markers, with special tees for beginners.
    • Maximum Shots: A maximum of 10 shots per hole, after which the player must pick up and move to the next hole.
    • It is recommended: all players should play with a caddy (Parent etc) to help with playing the game. Even if you are a non-player it is a good idea to walk with players so that they feel supported out on the course.
    • Play will be in groups of 2 or 3 and it is essential that a parent or relative walk with the player to assist with playing the game.

Benefits of Joining

    • Beginner-Friendly: Our program is perfect for beginners, providing a structured and supportive introduction to golf.
    • Early Adoption: Encourages early adoption of the game, promoting lifelong engagement with golf.
    • Exposure: Increases exposure to the sport for younger generations, fostering a new breed of golfers.
    • Great way to Exercise: Walking a full 9 holes is approximately a 5.5km distance and is a great way to get out on the course and build strength and stamina in a low-impact sport. Although the club has carts available for hire for social and competition play, it is not recommended for cadets and junior golf.
